Overview
In this role you will lead the bid and client-engagement process for a national main contractor, guiding proposals from tender receipt to handover. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to craft competitive tenders, present to clients, and identify risks and opportunities to optimise commercial outcomes. The position sits at the heart of securing future workloads by delivering well-structured, high-quality bid documentation and strategies. This is a client-facing role that combines strategic bidding, design development input, and supplier coordination to win complex projects.
Responsibilities
- Understand client aspirations to tailor a professional tender return
- Maintain a consistent bid content, message, and presentation across all bids
- Ensure each bid has a win strategy communicated to the team
- Manage bids from tender receipt to handover to production
- Develop winning strategies covering quality, design, innovation, supply chain, financial and legal responses
- Hold launch and regular review meetings with the bid team
- Lead production of bid documents in electronic and print formats; supervise admin & design staff
- Coordinate with external printers and graphic designers
- Lead final negotiations and contract signing
- Present to clients and interview panels as part of the bid process
Key requirements
- Relevant degree and/or membership of CIOB or ICE (preferred)
- Experience in bid management and coordination on traditional contract forms
- Proven success in winning bids/tenders in construction
- Strong analytical, oral, and presentation skills
- High-quality presentational abilities for diverse audiences
- Track record of managing multiple bids simultaneously
