Overview
In this role you will drive mechanical design projects for a market-leading waste equipment manufacturer. You will work within the Projects team to deliver detailed 3D/2D drawings, ensure budgets and feasibility, and mentor colleagues as projects progress. You’ll visit sites to verify installations and push for cost-effective, quality solutions. This is a growth-focused opportunity to shape product designs and improve performance across projects.

Responsibilities
- Produce detailed 3D/2D drawings and specifications using SolidWorks and AutoCAD
- Coordinate with sales and projects to keep plans within budget and cost-effective
- Review and improve existing designs, including site visits to verify performance
- Lead projects and provide engineering support across departments; mentor staff
- Conduct cost analysis for new projects to ensure cost-effectiveness
- Prepare documentation and ensure compliance with health & safety and company procedures
Key requirements
- Previous experience as a project engineer within structural steel or similar industries (essential)
- Proven ability to read and create technical drawings and specifications (essential)
- Knowledge of SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD (advantageous)
- Experience with sheet metal and fabrication (advantageous)
- Relevant qualifications in design engineering (advantageous)
