Overview
In this role you will lead environmental remediation and site investigation projects within the SIR team in Alberta, guiding cross-disciplinary teams to deliver compliant, effective solutions for upstream oil and gas sites. You’ll shape remedial strategies, manage scope, schedule, and budgets, and maintain strong client relationships. You’ll also mentor field staff and help drive a safety-focused culture across projects. Responsibilities
- Develop scopes of work and cost estimates for Phase I ESAs and Phase II investigations in soil, groundwater, surface water, and soil vapor
- Collaborate with technical professionals and subcontractors on remedial options analysis and risk management strategies
- Develop scopes of work and cost estimates for chosen remedial strategies and coordinate with subcontractors
- Monitor project scope, spend, and schedule
- Lead field work on complex projects and mentor field staff
- Liaise with field staff and discipline leaders during execution
- Analyze and interpret project data and prepare regulatory-compliant technical reports
- Maintain positive client relationships and communicate project status regularly
- Participate in marketing and business development and contribute to project cost estimates
- Interface with other departments and promote SIR services
- Coordinate with other project managers to resource SIR projects
- Participate in or lead project meetings
- Take safety seriously and foster a positive safety culture on all projects
Key requirements
- Knowledge of project management related to environmental investigations and remediation
- Strong understanding of Alberta Tier 1 and 2 soil and groundwater remediation guidelines and site-specific risk assessment
- Strong understanding of Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) contamination management and reclamation certificate application process
- Strong technical aptitude and technical writing ability
- Ability to manage people while overseeing projects
- Ability to work well and self-motivate in a collaborative team environment
- Ability to mentor and supervise junior staff
- Strong organizational and communications skills (written, verbal, and graphical)
- Ability to prioritize work and defend decisions
