Overview
In this role you will provide senior medical leadership for Cornwall’s countywide crisis service (MARRS), leading clinical care for children and young people in acute mental health crises. You will work within a multidisciplinary, cross-agency team to deliver rapid assessment, treatment, and safe discharge planning across community and inpatient settings. The post offers teaching, research, and dedicated SPA time, with a focus on service development and staff wellbeing. This is an opportunity to shape crisis care for young people in Cornwall and collaborate with partners to reduce hospital admissions.

Responsibilities
- Provide psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, formulation and treatment for children and young people with complex, acute mental health issues
- Deliver clinical leadership within the MARRS multidisciplinary team
- Support delivery of a 24/7 crisis response service
- Contribute to risk assessment, care planning and treatment formulation
- Lead Mental Health Act assessments for relevant cases
- Collaborate with community CAMHS, inpatient services and partner agencies to enable safe, timely discharge
- Participate in safeguarding processes, Child Protection reviews and multi-agency planning meetings
- Contribute to education and training of medical students, residents and other staff
- Support service development and innovative approaches to crisis mental health care for CYP in Cornwall
Key requirements
- CCT/ equivalent in CAMHS
- substantial experience managing a busy caseload of CAMHS patients
- experience in a community mental health setting
- desirable participation in user involvement in services
- excellent clinical assessment skills
