Overview

As a Project Manager on a flagship Grade I listed development, you will drive the safe, on-time delivery of complex heritage packages, including scaffolding and temporary works. You will coordinate with clients, consultants, and specialist subcontractors to meet programme, quality, and safety targets within a sensitive historic setting. The role combines planning, sequencing, and risk mitigation to ensure successful handover and commissioning. This is a hands-on opportunity to lead reuse of historic fabric and deliver high-profile construction work.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day delivery of complex heritage, enabling and temporary works packages
  • Lead planning, coordination and delivery of scaffolding and temporary works
  • Oversee specialist subcontractors ensuring safety, efficiency and quality
  • Develop and manage project programmes, procurement schedules and construction sequencing
  • Coordinate temporary works designs and methodologies with permanent works and broader programme
  • Collaborate with structural engineers, Temporary Works Coordinators, designers and consultants
  • Oversee complex cut-and-carve works within an existing Grade I listed structure
  • Manage interfaces between existing structures, temporary works and new permanent works
  • Monitor project performance, identify risks and implement mitigation strategies
  • Protect existing historic fabric throughout construction
  • Build relationships with clients, consultants, and key stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety, heritage constraints, and procedures
  • Manage reporting, programme updates, change control and project documentation
  • Support commissioning, handover and close-out of packages

Key requirements

  • Proven experience as a Project Manager for a Tier 1 principal contractor
  • Strong experience on heritage, refurbishment or listed-building projects
  • Proven experience delivering cut-and-carve projects within existing structures
  • Experience on Grade I, Grade II or other highly protected listed buildings is highly desirable
  • Strong experience managing scaffolding and temporary works packages
  • Good understanding of temporary works design, coordination, sequencing and installation
  • Experience working with Temporary Works Coordinators, designers and specialist consultants
