Overview

In this role you advise Sales & Trading desks on legal, regulatory, and transactional matters to support high-value markets activity. You will draft and negotiate trading, FX, and capital markets documentation while monitoring regulatory developments. You partner with Compliance, Risk, Operations, and Front Office across jurisdictions to manage legal risk and enable strategic initiatives. You’ll work in a dynamic, international environment with exposure to senior stakeholders and innovative, AI-enabled legal tools. Responsibilities

• Advising Sales & Trading desks on legal, regulatory, and transactional matters
• Drafting, reviewing and negotiating trading, clearing, electronic trading platform, FX and capital markets documentation
• Providing pragmatic, commercially-focused legal advice on rates, credit, derivatives and financing products
• Advising on regulatory frameworks including MiFID II, MAR and EMIR
• Supporting new product launches, strategic business initiatives and cross-border trading activity
• Identifying, assessing and mitigating legal, regulatory and reputational risks
• Partnering with Compliance, Risk, Operations and Front Office across multiple jurisdictions
• Monitoring legal and regulatory developments impacting Global Markets
• Contributing to legal process improvements and AI-enabled legal technologies

Key requirements

• Qualified lawyer with significant experience in Sales & Trading or Global Markets
• Minimum of 8 years’ PQE
• Strong experience in capital markets, derivatives or structured products
• Experience drafting and negotiating trading and financial markets documentation
• Knowledge of MiFID II, MAR, EMIR and the regulatory landscape for investment banking
• Proven ability to deliver commercially focused legal advice in fast-paced environments
• Strong stakeholder management and ability to influence front-office teams
• Experience operating across multiple jurisdictions and handling complex legal issues
• Proactive and solutions-focused approach
• Experience with AI-powered legal tools such as Copilot or CoCounsel is advantageous
