Overview

In this Senior Family Solicitor role, you will lead a varied, high-caliber private family caseload in a respected Brighton boutique. You’ll handle complex divorce finances, private children matters, and nuptial agreements while mentoring junior lawyers and strengthening the firm’s local presence. This position emphasizes quality, trusted advisory work over volume, with autonomy and supportive infrastructure. You will help shape the firm’s growth in Brighton and the Sussex market, delivering thoughtful, client-focused outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Own a varied caseload of private family matters (divorce and complex financial settlements involving property, businesses and trusts)
• Manage private children matters, including high-conflict cases
• Handle cohabitation and separation disputes
• Draft and advise on pre- and post-nuptial agreements
• Engage in mediation and non-court dispute resolution
• Support and mentor junior lawyers
• Build relationships locally and strengthen the firm’s presence in Brighton and Sussex

Key requirements

• 5+ PQE in Family Law
• Experience handling complex private family matters including divorce, financial settlements, and children matters
• Ability to mentor juniors and work with cross-functional teams
• Strong client advisory skills and professional discretion
