Overview

In this role you drive the design and delivery of complex building management and control systems for large projects, collaborating with clients and multidisciplinary teams. You shape engineering solutions for technology-heavy buildings and lead technical coordination, testing, and commissioning. Your work supports RED’s mission of efficient, sustainable built environments on international projects. This is a senior, client-facing position with opportunities to influence standards and project outcomes. You will lead on control system concepts and maintain high industry and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee large projects and provide client-facing leadership on design and coordination of building services
  • Develop designs and specs for mechanical/electrical installations in complex buildings
  • Produce control system points lists, network layouts, and schematic architectures
  • Write sequences of operation from MEP design reviews and discussions
  • Create specifications and software requirement documents as needed
  • Lead reviews of contractor proposals for compliance with design and regulations
  • Conduct condition surveys and prepare reports with improvement plans
  • Make day-to-day project decisions and advise clients, representing the company in technical meetings
  • Ensure calculations and drawings meet industry and regulatory standards
  • Specify and attend Factory Acceptance Tests, Site Acceptance Tests, and Integrated Systems Tests
  • Specify and participate in commissioning activities
  • Coordinate engineering services and take a holistic approach to concepts and solutions
  • Support project delivery through alignment with Bellwether processes and UK/EU standards

Key requirements

  • HNC/BEng in engineering or equivalent experience
  • MCIBSE/MIEE or HNC/HND with relevant experience; working towards Chartered Engineer status
  • Experience as a BMS/BEMS/Building Automation Consulting Engineer
  • Extensive experience with building automation, instrumentation, and monitoring systems
  • Understanding of networks, hardware, cabling, and network security
  • Ability to lead control system designs and report outputs
  • Strong record-keeping and reporting skills
  • Experience attending meetings and presenting skillsets
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word/Excel/Outlook)
  • Ability to manage workload, meet deadlines, and work solo or in teams
  • Ethical conduct and alignment with Ethics Charter and guidelines
  • 6+ years at Senior Engineer level or above
  • Willingness to travel for international projects
  • Good presentation skills and familiarity with multiple vendors’ products (Schneider, Siemens, Trend)
