Overview

In this senior role you lead strategic planning advice for a boutique firm known for rural and development work. You will drive high-value matters from site appraisal to determination, milestones, and appeals, shaping the direction of the planning team. You’ll build and maintain relationships with landowners, developers and rural clients while collaborating with land agents and consultants on major schemes. Responsibilities

  • Lead on strategic planning advice from site appraisal through to determination and appeal
  • Advise on s.106 agreements, highways matters and development frameworks
  • Handle contentious planning issues including judicial review and CPO work
  • Work closely with landowners, developers and rural businesses
  • Collaborate with land agents, consultants and valuers on major schemes
  • Play a key role in growing the planning offering and developing client relationships

Key requirements

  • Significant experience in planning law (applications, appeals, s.106, planning obligations)
  • Strong technical skills across both contentious and non-contentious planning matters
  • Confidence supervising junior team members
  • A commercial, solutions focused approach
  • The ability to build strong relationships with landowners, developers and rural clients
  • Interest in helping grow and shape a specialist planning practice
  • Partner or Legal Director level candidates are encouraged to apply
