Overview

As Solicitor in the Auctions team, you will manage a varied portfolio of auction-related property matters for individuals, investors, housing associations, and corporate clients. You’ll support senior lawyers on high-value transactions and help drive timely completions, while staying current on auction and property-law developments. You’ll collaborate with agents, lenders, and internal teams to deliver robust auction packs and sound legal advice. This role offers growth in a fast-paced, specialist area with a focus on client service and professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a varied caseload of auction-related property matters (residential and commercial)
  • Prepare comprehensive auction packs (title, searches, leases, planning)
  • Advise clients on risks related to auctions (restrictive covenants, easements, overage, title issues)
  • Handle pre- and post-auction processes, including enquiries, deposits, and registrations
  • Conveyancing across freehold and leasehold, including investment properties and tenancies
  • Provide guidance on repossessions, probate sales, and mortgagee-purchase properties
  • Work on high-value and portfolio auction transactions and liaise with lenders
  • Support both Commercial and Residential Property teams with auction-related advice
  • Maintain records in a Case Management System and meet fast-paced deadlines
  • Contribute to business development and maintain client confidentiality
  • Manage a small team of legal assistants

Key requirements

  • Qualified Solicitor with 2–3 years PQE (preferred, not essential)
  • Strong property-law experience with exposure to auction transactions
  • Thorough understanding of auction processes and related legal issues
  • Experience in complex conveyancing (unregistered land, adverse possession, tight deadlines)
  • Ability to manage varied caseload independently
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving ability
  • Strong client-facing and proactive, solution-focused approach
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Proficiency with Case Management Systems and legal tech
  • Ability to support BD and build client relationships
