Overview
In this role you provide a safe, stable home for a child (likely 5+) with complex needs, supporting their return to family and community. You work within a multidisciplinary framework to implement individual care plans and coordinate with therapeutic and educational services. The placement aims to reconnect the child with family, culture and community while delivering trauma-informed care. Responsibilities
- provide specialised care and stability in your home for a child with complex needs
- implement and follow agreed care plans and aftercare arrangements
- work closely with wraparound support services (therapeutic, education, Youth Justice)
- facilitate progress toward living in a family setting and reconnecting with family/community
- participate in bespoke support packages and 24/7 support where needed
- engage in ongoing training and shadowing opportunities to enhance trauma-informed practice
Key requirements
- significant formal childcare experience (e.g. 3 years fostering or related roles)
- 21 years or older
- have a spare bedroom for the child
- resilience, patience, and ability to build connections with trauma-experienced young people
- experience with trauma-informed approaches
- ability to collaborate with a team and wraparound services
- ability to develop and support care plans and aftercare
