Overview
In this role you will shape mechanical designs for water and wastewater projects, contributing across the full lifecycle from feasibility to construction. You join a multidisciplinary team to deliver robust, cost-effective solutions that support sustainable communities. You’ll lead technical deliverables and mentor colleagues, with opportunities to pursue chartership with support from mentors. This position offers development, collaboration, and a chance to contribute to major water infrastructure and environmental goals.

Responsibilities
- Lead development of mechanical designs for clean water and wastewater infrastructure from feasibility to construction
- Produce high-quality technical deliverables (P&IDs, valve/penstock schedules, mechanical specs, aboveground layouts)
- Lead key engineering calculations (pump sizing, safe access, maintenance arrangements, equipment selection)
- Mentor junior colleagues and support their development
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver cost-effective, compliant solutions
- Represent the firm at client meetings and contribute innovative, low-carbon solutions
- Ensure compliance with Health and Safety requirements and procedures
Key requirements
- Degree or equivalent in mechanical engineering or related field
- Working towards a professional qualification with a professional institution (e.g. ICE, IMechE)
- Experience with consultant or contractor environments (desirable)
- Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles for water projects
- Familiarity with Health & Safety legislation (CDM) and CAD
- Strong written communication and ability to annotate drawings and write reports
