Senior Sustainability Manager – Infrastructure

Overview

As Senior Sustainability Manager, you drive sustainability across major infrastructure programmes, shaping strategies and management plans. You lead a team within Mace’s Responsible Business function and advise on climate, social value, and sustainability issues to improve project outcomes. You collaborate with stakeholders to influence design development and risk management, while supporting business development and client engagement. This role offers growth within a values-driven, safety-focused culture and opportunities to work flexibly across client sites.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement sustainability management systems and strategies for projects
• Lead and manage Sustainability Managers and Support staff
• Apply expertise across sustainability disciplines to promote innovation
• Coordinate with stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes and drive design development
• Support bid work and client liaison to strengthen market position
• Contribute to climate change leadership and sustainability initiatives
• Assist in risk management of sustainability issues on programmes
• Support work winning and external profile-raising of Mace/Mace services

Key requirements

• Extensive sustainability management experience in major infrastructure or large programmes
• Experience leading sustainability topics/strategy and influencing design development
• Strong knowledge of UK environmental legislation and planning policy
• Proven ability to manage complex stakeholders and negotiate outcomes at senior forums
• Degree-qualified with professional accreditation (CEnv, ISEP Practitioner or equivalent)
• Secondary skills in GIS, DCO, and PowerBI
