Overview
In this role you help advance water quality modelling for coastal and estuarine environments within Stantec’s UK offices. You will work with an integrated, cross-disciplinary team to deliver models that inform sustainable wastewater solutions and environmental performance. You’ll engage with stakeholders to translate complex hydrodynamic data into actionable solutions, impacting local communities and ecosystems. The position offers growth through ongoing UK and overseas projects, including opportunities in the United States.

Responsibilities
- Scope, data collection, development, execution and presentation of multidimensional water quality models
- Model hydrodynamics across reservoirs, lakes, transitional and coastal waters
- Identify pollution sources, pathways and impacts on receptors
- Develop engineered and nature-based solutions to water quality challenges
- Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams and liaise with clients and stakeholders
- Support clients across water, energy and infrastructure sectors
- Contribute to project scoping and methodological advances
- Present model findings to non-technical audiences
Key requirements
- Extensive experience in 2D/3D hydrodynamic and water quality modelling
- Chartered membership or working towards in a relevant professional institution
- Independent working style with minimal supervision
- Strong grasp of numerical modelling equations and 2D mesh generation
- Experience with MIKE, Delft3D and Telemac in relevant applications
- Knowledge of hydrodynamics, multiphase flows, particle tracking, advection–dispersion, water quality and chemical processes
- Basic understanding of physicochemical water quality and oceanography; awareness of regulatory standards for fresh/marine waters
- Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to liaise with diverse stakeholders
