HV Cable Designer

Overview

You will design HV and EHV cable systems for renewable energy projects, delivering technically robust solutions from feasibility to installation. You will work within a project team to ensure compliance with TP141 and industry standards while producing reports and drawings. The role combines design, analysis, and collaboration to advance critical energy infrastructure. This is a hands-on opportunity to shape high‑voltage networks underpinning a cleaner energy future.

Responsibilities

• Perform HV and EHV cable design per TP141 and standards
• Carry out cable sizing, thermal rating and ampacity calculations
• Conduct bonding, earthing and induced voltage studies
• Assess cable routes, trenching and installation methods
• Utilize CYMCAP and ELEK for design work
• Produce technical reports, design deliverables and documentation
• Create cable design drawings in AutoCAD
• Collaborate with engineering/project teams to deliver renewables projects

Key requirements

• Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent qualification
• Experience in HV/EHV cable design in energy/renewables
• Strong capability in cable sizing, thermal rating and ampacity calculations
• Knowledge of bonding, earthing and induced voltage studies
• Understanding of routing, trench design and installation methodologies
• Proficiency with CYMCAP, ELEK or similar software
• Experience producing high-quality technical reports and deliverables
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and high attention to detail
