Overview

As Custody Tax Technical Manager, you will help ensure custody tax compliance for MSS GC Europe across diverse client types. You will translate regulatory changes into actionable process updates, working with clients and internal stakeholders to deliver accurate, timely service. You’ll oversee tax-related data integrity, controls, and reporting, while supporting audits and tax logistics. This role blends tax expertise with technology partnerships to improve processing, accuracy, and risk management within HSBC Securities Services.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, risk-controlled client service within timelines and resolve complex queries
  • Monitor tax/regulatory changes, validate data (including tax treaties) and implement process updates
  • Maintain client tax static data and MSS system static data, investigate and resolve exceptions
  • Support tax authority audits and regulatory requirements with robust controls and reporting
  • Provide technical support across Custody Tax (Withholding Tax, Double Taxation Agreements, SDRT, Tax Logistics)
  • Oversee Tax Transparent Funds (TTFs) activity, including reporting, processes/tools adherence, risk management and continuous improvement
  • Collaborate with IT to develop Custody Tax processing tools (e.g., Xceptor and Bancs)

Key requirements

  • In-depth knowledge of the securities industry and global market infrastructure
  • Understanding of a Tax Operations environment
  • Knowledge of withholding tax and double taxation agreements worldwide
  • Experience maintaining client tax static data and resolving related queries within targets
  • Experience supporting Tax Transparent Funds (TTFs) including BAU reporting and control activities
