Pre-Construction Engineer

Overview

In this role you will support the South Staffordshire Water Framework by shaping design management across multiple clean-water projects. You will work with internal teams, clients, and design partners to move design deliverables toward handover, while upholding cost, quality and buildability. You’ll ensure CDM 2015 and HSEQ compliance, coordinate procurement planning, and contribute to temporary works and supply chain input. You’ll operate in a safety‑driven, collaborative environment that values continuous improvement and professional development. Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain relationships with internal teams, clients, and design partners to enable design deliverables to progress to delivery
• Support preparation of Design Management Plans, Risk Registers, and Delivery Plans with focus on cost, quality, and buildability
• Ensure compliance with CDM 2015 in design and with Health, Safety and Environmental standards
• Collaborate with estimating and planning teams to align procurement schedules with the programme
• Support or perform Temporary Works Coordinator duties to develop a temporary works register
• Manage input from subcontractors and supply chain on design and technical queries
• Promote safety, collaboration and continuous improvement across projects

Key requirements

• HND/HNC in Engineering (BEng/MEng preferred)
• Proven technical understanding of design and construction processes
• Experience managing subcontract and supply chain input
• Knowledge of CDM 2015 and temporary works
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
