Senior Delivery Manager

Overview

In this role you will lead delivery of complex digital and cyber programmes within a major government department. You will coordinate cross‑functional teams, maintain momentum, and manage risks while keeping stakeholders engaged throughout the delivery lifecycle. You’ll drive agile practices, improve delivery frameworks, and support assurance activities in a fast-paced, regulated environment. This is an opportunity to shape government digital transformation and work with senior leadership on high‑impact initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of complex digital and cyber programmes
• Plan and coordinate work across multidisciplinary delivery teams
• Drive agile delivery and maintain programme momentum
• Build and manage relationships with senior stakeholders (Director and SRO level)
• Identify, manage and mitigate risks, issues and dependencies
• Facilitate collaboration across product, UX, technical, architecture and security teams
• Improve delivery frameworks, governance processes and ways of working
• Support government assurance activities and programme reporting
• Adapt to changing priorities to achieve successful outcomes

Key requirements

• Significant experience as Delivery Manager or Senior Delivery Manager in complex environments
• Proven track record delivering digital transformation, technology or cyber programmes
• Strong understanding of Agile delivery methodologies
• Experience in UK public sector or government organisations
• Knowledge of the GDS Service Manual and government delivery standards
• Demonstrable experience leading multidisciplinary agile teams
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Strong planning, organisational and leadership capabilities
• Ability to navigate ambiguity and work independently
• Experience engaging with senior leadership and executive stakeholders
