Overview

As a Senior Engineer, you will architect and ship the Agentic Layer from ground up, in a greenfield setting. You will own substantial parts of the platform, shaping technical foundations, and guiding delivery in a rapidly evolving context. You’ll collaborate with product leadership to turn ambiguous problems into concrete, testable solutions, balancing risk, value, and speed. This role offers high ownership, close cross‑functional collaboration, and the chance to influence the platform that enables AI-enabled workflows across Pretzl. You will work remotely from the UK with periodic travel to London and have a clear path to senior technical leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Own substantial areas of the Agentic Layer from early shaping to production
  • Identify architectural decisions, risks, and unknowns; translate vision into practical direction
  • Turn broad ambitions into narrow, testable vertical slices with real business value
  • Design secure, observable, scalable systems and lead debugging or incident investigations
  • Build production-grade TypeScript/Node.js services and internal tools
  • Shape context-loading, permissions models, and integration approaches with external platforms
  • Establish boundaries for tool access, data sensitivity, and human-in-the-loop workflows
  • Mentor engineers, drive engineering practices, and contribute to hiring/onboarding
  • Collaborate with product leadership to define workflows and validate value early

Key requirements

  • Sustained senior engineer track record; not a first senior appointment
  • Production software experience with TypeScript and Node.js
  • Ownership of complex initiatives from early shaping to production
  • Comfort with greenfield projects and establishing architecture and standards
  • Ability to clarify ambiguity, make pragmatic decisions, and progress work
  • Experience designing/consuming/maintaining third-party API integrations
  • Understanding of authentication, authorization, permissions, identity, secure data handling
  • Experience with databases, queues, asynchronous patterns, events or webhooks
  • Practical experience with LLM APIs, tool calling, agent workflows, retrieval systems
  • Designing systems to handle sensitive business data with auditability and human oversight
  • Strong product engineering judgment and communication
  • Mentoring experience and curiosity about AI improvements vs. reliability
