Overview

In this Financial Controller role, you will lead the day-to-day finance function across multiple entities and two legal entities, reporting to the CFO. You’ll own financial control, planning and board-level reporting while developing a small finance team. You’ll partner with senior stakeholders to drive commercial insight, process improvements and automation. This is an opportunity to move beyond pure accounting into strategic, board-facing finance leadership in a fast-paced professional services environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead month-end and year-end close processes
  • Produce statutory accounts and manage the annual audit
  • Manage cash flow forecasting and liquidity planning
  • Deliver high-quality management information and board reporting
  • Maintain strong financial controls and audit readiness
  • Oversee corporation tax, VAT and wider compliance
  • Build forecasting, budgeting and scenario models
  • Support strategic decision-making through financial analysis
  • Manage and develop two Finance Assistants
  • Drive process improvement, automation and finance systems enhancement
  • Collaborate with senior stakeholders on operational and commercial initiatives
  • Support shareholder and executive-level reporting requirements

Key requirements

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
  • At least 4 years’ post-qualified experience
  • Experience as Financial Controller, Finance Manager, Senior Finance Manager or equivalent
  • Strong financial reporting, control and audit experience
  • Excellent Excel and financial modelling capabilities
  • Experience producing management accounts and board reporting
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Process improvement and automation mindset
  • Ability to operate in a lean, fast-moving environment
  • Experience of finance systems implementation, FP&A, cash flow modelling or professional services environments (advantageous)
