Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Lawyer to join a leading UK law firm on an interim basis. You will work within an established Risk & Compliance function, providing practical legal advice across contracts, regulatory matters, data protection and wider business risk.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic and collaborative legal environment, supporting a broad range of stakeholders and playing a key role in managing contractual and compliance risk during a busy period.

Start Date: ASAP

Duration: Initial 3 Months

Working Pattern: Full-Time

Location: London/Hybrid (2-3 days per week in office)

Rate: £Daily Rate DOE

Key Responsibilities

  • Reviewing and advising on requests to vary the firm’s client engagement terms, identifying legal, regulatory, and commercial risks.
  • Drafting, updating, and negotiating terms of business and related client-facing documentation.
  • Advising on risk and compliance issues arising from client onboarding, engagement terms, and ongoing matters.
  • Supporting data protection and confidentiality queries connected to client engagements.
  • Providing pragmatic guidance to partners and internal stakeholders on compliance-related matters.
  • Working closely with the Risk & Compliance team to ensure regulatory obligations and internal policies are adhered to.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2+ years’ post-qualification experience.
  • Experience working within a law firm Risk & Compliance or General Counsel team is essential.
  • Strong experience reviewing and negotiating client engagement terms and terms of business.
  • Demonstrable understanding of law firm regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Experience advising on risk issues relating to client engagements and contractual arrangements.
  • Good understanding of data protection principles and confidentiality obligations.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to advise partners and senior colleagues.
