Lead Software Engineer

Location: London (Hybrid, 2 days per week in the office)

Salary: Up to £82,000

We’re looking for a Lead Software Engineer to combine hands‑on technical leadership with software engineering excellence, helping to build modern cloud‑native applications and mentor high‑performing engineering teams.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Lead and mentor a team of Software and QA Engineers across multiple projects.
• Design, develop, and deliver scalable enterprise applications using modern engineering practices.
• Build cloud‑first solutions leveraging Azure and containerised technologies.
• Develop robust back‑end services using C#/.NET and modern front‑end applications with React, TypeScript or similar frameworks.
• Drive DevSecOps best practices, continuous delivery, and secure software development.
• Collaborate closely with Product Owners and cross‑functional teams in an Agile environment.
• Explore and implement emerging technologies including AI‑enabled solutions and modern software architectures.

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years’ commercial experience with C#, .NET, Java, or similar object‑oriented technologies.
• Experience leading and mentoring engineering teams while remaining technically involved.
• Expertise in software architecture, design patterns, APIs, microservices, and event‑driven systems.
• Experience building and deploying applications in cloud environments, ideally Azure.
• Knowledge of containerisation technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Strong understanding of DevSecOps, CI/CD, automated testing, and application security practices.
• Experience building customer‑facing web applications and working with SQL and/or NoSQL databases.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• React, Angular, Blazor, or other modern UI frameworks.
• Messaging technologies such as Kafka, Service Bus, or MQ.
• Experience with AI technologies, workflow automation, or data analytics platforms.
