Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will oversee all quarry activities, including production planning, compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, colleague management as well as contractors, and contribute to continuous improvement in operational efficiency and product quality. You will be the “Responsible Person” on site.nnnKey Responsibilitiesnnn* Closely monitor all areas of the quarry’s day to day operations including blasting, crushing, screening and stockpiling to ensure it is carried out to the highest standardnn* Ensure production levels are maintained to meet business needs, balancing sales and output through liaising with Commercial Teamsnn* Manage blasting operations safely and effectively (if applicable), ensuring all legal and safety procedures are followed.nn* Manage and monitor operational costs and budgets, seeking efficiencies and cost-saving opportunitiesnn* Participate in quality control procedures to ensure materials meet required standards and specificationsnn* Monitor and maintain equipment and machinery through preventative maintenance schedules to reduce downtime and improve productivitynn* Ensure accurate recording and reporting of materials produced, stock levels, maintenance, and safety incidentsnn* Drive continuous improvement in operations, quality, and sustainability initiativesnn* Provide input for long-term planning, including quarry development and rehabilitationnn* Lead, manage and develop a team of quarry operatives, supervisors, assistant quarry manager and contractors, including assigning duties, monitoring performance, and promoting teamworknn* Conduct risk assessments, inspections, and audits to ensure ongoing operational safety and regulatory compliance.nn* Implement and enforce robust health, safety, and environmental policies in compliance with legal and corporate standards (e.g., Quarry Regulations 1999, PUWER, COSHH).nnnSkills, Knowledge and ExpertisennnEssentialnnn* Degree or diploma in Quarry Management, Mining Engineering, Geology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)nn* Significant experience in quarry operations or extractive industries, with a proven leadership track recordnn* Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations and best practices relevant to quarryingnn* Strong leadership and people management skillsnn* Competence in using quarry management systems and Microsoft Office Suitenn* Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilitynn* Effective communication and interpersonal skills and stakeholder management skillsnn* Strategic thinking with strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilitiesnn* Financial acumen and budgeting experiencenn* Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentnn* Valid UK driver's licensennnDesirablennn* NVQ Level 4/5 in Health, Safety & Environmental ManagementnnnBenefitsnnn* A tailored, competitive salarynn* Company Pension Schemenn* 33 days annual leave, inclusive of bank holidaysnn* Share Saver Scheme participationnn* Company Life Assurance Schemenn* Access to our Employee Assistance Programme for health and wellbeing supportnn* Discounts on a wide range of products through our employee benefits platformnn* Broad learning opportunities and career progression pathways.nnnDiversity Statement:nn At Breedon Group, we are committed to fostering an inclusive workplace where diversity is valued.
