Footprint Manager – Telematics

Overview

In this role you will lead a team of risk analysts within the Telematics pricing function to drive profit and growth by refining who we offer pricing to. You will identify opportunities to expand or improve our footprint, and develop innovative approaches to manage underwriting risk as Hastings grows in telematics segments. You’ll analyze risk using loss ratios and KPIs to shape portfolio decisions, while engaging stakeholders to align strategic pathways. This position offers the chance to impact pricing strategy and customer outcomes in a data-driven, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Identify and lead opportunities to expand our competitive footprint or rectify unprofitable segments
• Develop and deliver innovative approaches to manage underwriting risk when expanding into new footprint segments
• Analyze risk using loss ratios and KPIs, turning insights into actionable portfolio decisions
• Leverage stakeholder engagement to shape strategic growth pathways
• Lead and support a team of risk analysts via coaching and peer reviews
• Ensure fair outcomes for customers and challenge processes that do not put customers’ interests first

Key requirements

• Strong commercial awareness and understanding of profitable business
• Strong numerical and analytical skills
• Advanced programming language skill (This could be R, Phyton, SQL, Radar or any other coding-based language
• Pro-active approach to driving change
• Ability to think strategically about long-term goals and balance short-term objectives
• Excellent communication skills and stakeholder management
• Pricing/analytics experience in the financial services sector
• Knowledge of insurance market & competitors
