Overview

In this role you will oversee the commercial management of major energy infrastructure projects from inception to completion. You will work within a team delivering electricity transmission and distribution, renewable energy, EV charging, storage, and solar initiatives as part of the energy transition. You will drive cost control, contract administration, procurement, and stakeholder engagement to maximise project performance. The role offers a meaningful impact on critical infrastructure and cross-functional collaboration with delivery teams. You will shape commercial processes and guidance to support growth and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the commercial performance of energy infrastructure projects and framework agreements
  • Prepare pricing schedules and tender submissions
  • Produce accurate cost forecasts, valuations, and financial reports
  • Monitor project performance against budgets and commercial targets
  • Administer contracts, variations, compensation events, and change control procedures
  • Prepare and negotiate applications for payment, claims, and final accounts
  • Manage subcontract procurement, payments, and commercial performance
  • Lead commercial discussions with clients, suppliers, and project stakeholders
  • Identify and mitigate commercial risks across multiple projects
  • Support delivery teams with commercial guidance and expertise
  • Develop robust cost control, forecasting, and reporting processes
  • Ensure contractual compliance and governance requirements are met
  • Mentor and support the development of junior commercial team members
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and business growth initiatives

Key requirements

  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management, or a related discipline
  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within the Energy, Utilities, Power, or Infrastructure sectors
  • Strong knowledge of commercial management and contract administration
  • Experience with NEC, JCT, ICE, and bespoke contract forms
  • Ability to manage multiple projects or framework contracts simultaneously
  • Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills
