Overview

In this role you will steer the technical direction of AI-enabled products across the R&D value chain, from early research to clinical development. You will work with cross-functional teams to turn pain points into governed, scalable software that supports researchers and compliance needs. You’ll build production-ready AI solutions that engineers and scientists can use confidently, shaping how new treatments are discovered. This is a high-impact opportunity to influence how AI accelerates drug development in a mission-driven company. You will lead through technical direction, mentoring, and collaboration with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end lifecycle of AI products for R&D, from scoping to operation, providing clear technical guidance
  • Design and develop AI products on internal platforms and infrastructure, bridging business and science
  • Create best practices, templates, and accelerators grounded in strong software engineering principles
  • Educate scientists on the AI product lifecycle, enabling self-service contributions
  • Mentor and guide senior team members
  • Provide technical leadership without direct people management, influencing through direction and mentoring

Key requirements

  • Educational and professional background in CS, Software Engineering, Statistics or related field
  • Deep experience in software product design, development, and lifecycle management
  • Solid knowledge of statistics, machine learning, and hands-on experience with agent harnesses
  • Experience with systems design, containerisation, and distributed computing
  • Strong Python skills
  • Experience with DevOps, CI/CD, and software testing
  • Experience giving technical guidance to engineers and mentoring colleagues
