Overview
In this role you will support a leading international maritime practice on high-value, technically complex disputes across marine, shipping and marine insurance. You’ll work with shipowners, P&I clubs, underwriters and other maritime clients, handling a mix of litigated and pre-litigated matters in a fast-paced, cross-border environment. You will partner with partners on multi-jurisdictional disputes and coordinate with experts to shape strategy. Responsibilities
- Manage a varied caseload of marine, shipping and trade disputes
- Handle wet shipping disputes, marine liability claims and various tracks of litigation
- Support partners on complex, multi-jurisdictional disputes
- Engage with experts, witnesses and counsel to develop case strategy
- Build relationships with insurers, P&I clubs, shipowners, operators and maritime clients
- Contribute to regulatory matters, casualty investigations and inquests
Key requirements
- 1-4 years’ PQE (or equivalent)
- Experience handling catastrophic injury, large loss PI, EL/PL or related insurance litigation
- Exposure to marine, shipping, transport or insurance disputes (advantageous)
- Experience managing litigated and pre-litigated claims of varying complexity
- Strong technical, analytical and drafting skills
- Excellent attention to detail and case management capability
- Strong communication and client relationship skills
