Solicitor – Contentious Construction – Bristol – 4+ Years PQE

Overview

In this role you will handle a varied caseload of contentious construction disputes within a leading UK law firm. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to resolve complex matters and advance dispute resolution strategies. You will draft and negotiate key construction contracts, advise on procurement and risk, and represent clients in adjudications, arbitrations, and TCC litigation. Responsibilities

• Manage a varied caseload of contentious construction matters (breaches, professional negligence, delay disputes)
• Draft and negotiate JCT, NEC, FIDIC and bespoke contracts
• Advise on procurement strategies, risk management and regulatory compliance
• Represent clients in adjudications, arbitrations, mediations and TCC litigation
• Collaborate with real estate, banking, corporate and dispute resolution teams
• Conduct legal research and manage case documentation
• Support business development and client relationship initiatives
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to internal training

Key requirements

• 4+ years PQE in construction law (UK-based)
• Strong experience in contentious construction matters
• Solid understanding of JCT, NEC, FIDIC contracts
• Exposure to adjudication, arbitration, mediation, and TCC litigation
• Commercial awareness and pragmatic legal advice
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
• Proactive, team-oriented mindset with mentoring experience
