Senior Software Development Engineer

Overview

In this role you design, build, and evolve scalable, secure backend services powering pricing and offers across Expedia Group brands. You’ll lead end-to-end delivery of complex features, translating business and regulatory requirements into robust technical solutions. You’ll collaborate with product, architecture, and cross-functional teams to enable locally relevant, compliant pricing. You’ll drive engineering excellence, mentoring others, and safely integrating AI/ML-enabled solutions to improve pricing outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Design and evolve backend services, APIs, and data models for pricing and offers across multiple brands
• Lead end-to-end implementation of complex features from design through deployment and operations
• Collaborate with product, architecture, and cross-functional teams to translate requirements into scalable solutions
• Champion code quality, automated testing, observability, performance optimization, and reduce technical debt
• Mentor engineers, share domain knowledge, and model best practices in system and API design
• Safely integrate and operate AI/ML-enabled solutions with governance and patterns in place

Key requirements

• 8+ years of software development experience with focus on backend development
• Proven experience owning production services lifecycle (design, API, data modeling, deployment, monitoring)
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, design decisions, testability and observability
• Experience with integration patterns, testing and monitoring tools, and operational excellence practices
• Mentorship experience guiding at least three engineers
• Proficiency in Java or Kotlin and building high-throughput, scalable cloud services
