Associate / Associate Director Transport Planner

Overview

In this role you will lead and deliver transport planning for development projects in London, guiding feasibility through planning submission and determination. You’ll mentor junior staff, manage client and stakeholder relationships, and shape the growth of the London transport planning team. You’ll apply expertise in TA/TS and Travel Plans to support ambitious development schemes while contributing to business development and cross-team collaboration. This senior position offers influence, high-quality project work, and a path toward greater leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead transport planning projects from feasibility to planning submission and determination
• Prepare and oversee Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, and Travel Plans
• Provide strategic transport planning advice to clients and project teams
• Manage relationships with clients, local authorities and other stakeholders
• Lead and mentor junior/intermediate team members
• Review technical work to ensure high delivery standards
• Contribute to business development and client relationship growth
• Support growth and development of the London transport planning team

Key requirements

• Significant UK consultancy experience in transport planning
• Strong experience in development planning and transport consultancy
• Proven experience delivering Transport Assessments, Transport Statements and Travel Plans
• Comfortable managing projects, clients and junior team members
• Strong understanding of the UK planning process and transport within development proposals
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Commercially aware with interest in client relationships and business growth
• Chartered status or working towards CIHT is advantageous
