Overview

In this role you will lead the Authentication and Authorization engineering team, shaping the identity strategy across SMB and Enterprise. You’ll drive secure, scalable auth platforms while migrating legacy systems to a modern identity platform. You’ll partner with Product, Security and Compliance to align priorities and remove blockers, ensuring high quality delivery. You’ll mentor engineers to grow and continuously improve how we build software. This role combines technical leadership with impactful platform work.

Responsibilities

  • Own the vision, strategy and execution roadmap for identity, authentication and authorisation across SMB and Enterprise
  • Drive delivery and outcomes for the Authentication & Authorisation team, building secure, scalable systems
  • Roll out a new identity platform across Enterprise offerings
  • Define and execute migration strategy between SMB legacy service and Enterprise architecture
  • Update legacy auth services to reduce risk and debt while maintaining security, compliance and performance
  • Collaborate with Product, Security, Compliance and Core Platform teams to align priorities and unblock dependencies
  • Guide the team through complex trade-offs and maintain architectural direction
  • Improve software delivery through operational excellence, quality and ways of working
  • Hire, coach and grow a high-performing team and foster a strong team dynamic

Key requirements

  • Solid experience as an Engineering Manager with people leadership impact
  • Strong hands-on technical depth in authentication and authorisation (OAuth, SAML, OIDC) and modern identity platforms (Cognito, Auth0, Stytch)
  • Architectural credibility with track record of migrations and handling legacy constraints
  • Strong stakeholder management across engineering, product and risk-focused partners
