Senior Engineer – Python & Containerization (VP)

Overview

In this role you will engineer and enhance container security capabilities across Citi’s platforms to secure internal environments and support developers. You will craft scalable security solutions, collaborating with platform and DevOps teams across time zones to integrate image scanning and container security into the SDLC. You will balance strong security with developer efficiency, reducing friction while maintaining risk controls. This is a hands-on, architecture-driven position that shapes Citi’s cloud-native security posture and protects critical assets at scale.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, architect, build and enhance container security tools and platforms for CISO and developers
• Own scalable security solutions across the organization
• Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, and partner teams across time zones
• Engineer automated security solutions to secure and harden internal platforms and reduce developer friction
• Improve the container SDLC for internal developers from an image scanning perspective
• Partner with centralised platform teams, DevOps teams and the developer community where appropriate

Key requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
• Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Extensive relevant industry work experience
• Hands-on experience integrating Container Image Scanning platforms and tooling
• Experience in design, implementation and operation of enterprise software with cross-functional collaboration
• Experience contributing to architecture and design (reliability, scaling) of systems
• Experience with Kubernetes and container technologies (Docker, Podman, OpenShift)
• Security fundamentals related to Kubernetes; DevSecOps is a bonus
• Expertise in Python or Java and tooling (Git, Maven, IDEs, Jenkins, Bitbucket)
• Expertise with DevOps, CI/CD and agile methodology
