Technical Support Officer

Overview

In this role you drive compliance and safe handling of consignment and flasking operations at UKNNL’s Sellafield sites. You’ll supervise dangerous goods movements, support ILW waste management, and ensure regulatory adherence across waste, transport, and facility operations. You work with cross-functional teams to maintain auditable records and enable smooth facility operations. Responsibilities

• Support ILW waste consignments to Sellafield and coordinate waste liabilities costings
• Demonstrate SQEP in compliance roles (DGDO, RMC, AHF ILW Coordinator, COSHH Coordinator, LEC)
• Check and improve Safe Systems of Work procedures and trigger remedial actions as needed
• Organise and ensure compliant dangerous goods transport consignments on/off site
• Pursue external training qualifications for dangerous goods (Classes 1-9) in Road, Air and Sea
• Act as main contact for customer work alongside flasking, consignment, and waste/environment teams
• Conduct audits, observations and inspections to drive corrective actions
• Support TSMs for consignment/flasking and waste/environment compliance at AHF and ILW operations

Key requirements

• Experience with safe systems of work and related documentation
• Experience in an industrial environment
• Strong communication and organisation within a team
• Experience in dangerous goods handling of any class
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Excellent organisational and coordination skills
• GCSE grade C in English, Maths and Science
• Ability to achieve DV Clearance (identity, employment, financial and criminal checks plus 10 years UK residency)
