Principal Hydrogeologist

Overview

As Principal Hydrogeologist at a multidisciplinary consultancy in Bristol, you provide technical leadership across hydrogeology and the water environment for infrastructure, renewables, power, industrial and built environment projects. You will lead assessments, manage client relationships, and mentor junior staff. You work with cross-functional teams to ensure robust deliverables and regulatory compliance. Responsibilities

• Lead hydrogeological assessments, investigations and monitoring programmes
• Prepare and review EIA water chapters
• Oversee water environment assessments, abstraction licensing and groundwater permitting
• Provide technical leadership, analysis and reporting
• Manage client relationships and support proposals
• Lead multidisciplinary project delivery
• Mentor and develop scientists and hydrogeologists

Key requirements

• Substantial UK hydrogeology or water environment experience
• Degree in Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, Geoscience or related discipline
• Strong hydrogeological assessment and water monitoring experience
• Knowledge of UK water legislation and regulatory requirements
• Strong technical reporting, client and communication skills
• Chartered status or working towards chartership
• Driving licence permitting you to drive in the UK
• GIS, analysis or modelling software experience would be advantageous rather than essential
