Overview

In this role you lead the design and delivery of a scalable, secure data and analytics platform that serves as the enterprise’s single source of truth. You empower cross-functional teams with real-time insights to drive smarter decisions and business impact. You will shape the Azure-based data and AI ecosystem, ensuring governance, security, and scalability while championing data modernisation at scale. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity to steer strategic data initiatives in a global energy company.

Responsibilities

  • Own the target-state data architecture and Azure data/AI platform direction
  • Lead architecture decisions, standards and designs with IT, security, and vendors
  • Manage the Azure data/AI platform and architecture team and external vendors
  • Set architectural standards, guardrails, security and privacy in line with regulations
  • Own integration patterns for data and AI and onboarding across sources
  • Define strategy and roadmaps for data/AI platform, address technical debt and tooling
  • Coach data/AI architects, engineers, and analytics engineers on best practices
  • Partner with AI/ML stakeholders to align platform capabilities with needs
  • Ensure data/AI is accessible to services and informs decision-making
  • Influence organisational strategy through robust evidence and insight

Key requirements

  • Deep and significant experience in global data and AI architecture
  • TOGAF certification (preferred) or demonstrable enterprise data/AI architecture experience
  • Strong cloud data/AI architecture experience
  • Understanding of AI/semantic and dimensional modelling within enterprise architecture
  • Experience with AI/ML platform requirements
  • Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to translate complex data into insights for non-technical audiences
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities and lead through change
  • Hands-on guidance to delivery and data teams across architectures
  • Commitment to ethical data use and governance
