Overview
In this role you will underwrite new and renewal business within your authority, supporting regional and Lloyds market activities. You will ensure accurate data capture in Xchanging and other systems, conduct cross-department clearance for overseas risks, and contribute to peer reviews and underwriting exhibits. You’ll travel to meet clients across Europe and the USA, market Arch products, and help train colleagues. You will work in a collaborative, innovation-driven culture that enables progress for clients and teams.
Responsibilities
- Underwrite new and renewal business within authority and assist department underwriters/managers
- Underwrite balanced and profitable accounts
- Record underwriting information accurately in Xchanging System and other systems
- Perform account clearance procedures for overseas risks with other parts of the Corporation
- Conduct internal underwriting reviews and peer reviews; ensure completion of peer sheets
- Enter submissions, quotes and bound policies in underwriting system
- Conduct research for underwriting information from the Internet or external sources
- Prepare underwriting exhibits and related workups (exhibits, Excel sheets)
- Assist with annual budgeting process and provide underwriting data to management
- Present underwriting data to manager and senior management
- Travel between London and other European offices; attend client/prospective client meetings as required
- Market Arch products and manage broker relationships
- Provide training and assistance to others in the department
- Maintain business activity logs for management reporting
- Assist in preparing and presenting quotation documentation
- Assist in resolving outstanding premium receivable issues
- Handle day-to-day underwriting operations and basic administration
- Stay aware of industry topics and legislative changes affecting the line of business
Key requirements
- University degree – preferred but not essential
- ACII – preferred (if not possessed, must obtain within 3 years)
- Minimum X years relevant market underwriting experience in London/Lloyds market
