Principal Transport Planner

Overview

As Principal Transport Planner you will lead transport planning work for planning applications in private sector projects, within an experienced Transport Planning and Engineering team in Leicester or Nottingham. You will prepare transport statements, assessments and travel plans, and advise on highway and transport planning issues to shape access strategies and feasibility studies. You’ll develop preliminary designs for site access and highway improvements for approval, while delivering high-quality work to deadlines and mentoring teammates. You will manage multiple projects as the lead client contact, fostering strong relationships with clients, design teams, and highway authorities. This

Responsibilities

• Prepare transport statements, transport assessments and travel plans for planning applications
• Advise on highway and transport planning issues including access strategies and feasibility studies
• Prepare preliminary horizontal designs for site access junctions and highway improvements
• Ensure high technical quality and timely delivery; mentor team members
• Develop strong relationships with clients, design teams, and highway authorities
• Manage multiple projects as lead client contact

Key requirements

• Experience in Transport Planning (essential)
• Experience with TRICS and Junctions (required)
• Experience with LinSig, GIS, AutoCAD, AutoTrack, PDS Sign/Line (advantageous)
• Experience managing multiple projects, including client liaison and financial elements
• Degree in a relevant subject; post-graduate qualification desirable
