Overview

In this Commercial Banking placement at HSBC, you will support Relationship Managers to understand client needs and help tailor financial solutions. You will gain exposure to cross-functional teams across Legal, Credit and Risk, and learn how relationships drive business outcomes. You’ll assist with client presentations, reports and risk assessments, while developing a solid foundation in relationship-led banking. The program combines structured training with hands-on experience, helping you build confidence and a clearer sense of where you could contribute in commercial banking.

Responsibilities

• Support Relationship Managers and specialist teams to understand client goals and challenges
• Assist with client presentations, reports and credit papers
• Contribute to strategic reviews and pitches for clients
• Perform financial analysis and risk assessments on portfolios and transactions
• Collaborate with colleagues across Legal, Credit and Risk to deliver tailored solutions
• Participate in cross-functional teamwork across geographies to support client partnerships

Key requirements

• Available to work full time for 12 months from June 2027
• Penultimate year undergraduate student (minimum 2:1)
• Completed undergraduate studies by July 2029 or progressing towards 2029 graduation
• Able to participate in a placement as part of undergraduate studies
• English fluency
• Eligible to work in the UK for full duration without sponsorship
