Overview

As a senior hydraulics specialist in our Perth Building Engineering team, you will lead hydraulic design across diverse building projects, guiding delivery and mentoring engineers. You’ll own technical outputs, perform reviews, and ensure integrated, cost-efficient solutions with clients and cross-disciplinary teams. Your leadership will shape the Perth team’s growth while contributing to nationally significant projects. This role combines technical depth with client-facing impact in a global, inclusive firm.

Responsibilities

  • Lead hydraulic engineering across a diverse range of building projects, acting as technical lead and guiding project teams
  • Own the technical delivery of hydraulic designs and calculations, including reviews, QA and sign-off
  • Coordinate hydraulic design with other disciplines for integrated project solutions
  • Engage with clients and stakeholders to translate requirements into practical, innovative solutions
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to develop engineers across the team
  • Collaborate with the national Hydraulics team on complex, high-profile projects
  • Deliver a broad range of hydraulic services (rainwater harvesting, drainage, water reticulation, hot water systems, energy-efficient systems, desalination)
  • Shape the growth of the Perth team through technical expertise and leadership

Key requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in hydraulic engineering, preferably in a consultancy
  • Strong knowledge of Australian Standards, NCC/BCA, and relevant codes
  • Engineering degree, TAFE qualification, or equivalent industry experience
  • RPEQ/RPEV registration or ability to obtain
  • Strong written and verbal communication; proven client and stakeholder engagement
  • Experience leading hydraulic design delivery and providing technical direction
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant hydraulic engineering software
  • Revit experience preferred
