Overview

In this role you will support the Software Asset Management (SAM) function within Sainsbury’s Tech, focusing on licensing control and compliance. You will coordinate with Procurement, Deployment, Packaging, Engineering and business stakeholders to optimise software usage and enable data-driven investment decisions. The role involves managing publisher areas, delivering BAU SAM activities, and driving initiatives that improve asset management maturity. You will work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment that values stakeholder partnership and data insights to reduce risk and maximise value.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to licensing queries across the Sainsbury’s group
  • Create and maintain licence entitlement records and data sets
  • Provide credible SAM analysis to senior stakeholders for data-driven decisions
  • Create Effective License Positions (ELPs) for accountable vendors
  • Act as SME for allocated publishers
  • Investigate SAM tool/executable process exceptions and address them
  • Provide accurate data to procurement and supplier management teams
  • Partner with business and tech teams to support complex software-delivery projects
  • Advise Sainsbury’s Tech on programmes (e.g., Windows 10)
  • Set objectives and contribute to strategic development plans
  • Identify and implement SAM initiatives
  • Maintain a customer/retail-focused decision-making lens
  • Mentor junior team members and SAM admins
  • Maintain a personal development plan and share knowledge with colleagues
  • Liaise with Subject Matter Experts to maximise knowledge

  • Proficiency with one License Management tool (e.g., USU Aspera, ServiceNow SAMPro, Flexera, Snow)
