QA Automation Engineer

Overview

In this role you will design, build, and maintain automated tests to ensure high-quality software across web apps, APIs, and backend systems. You will work closely with Developers, Product stakeholders, and DevOps to embed quality throughout the SDLC and support continuous delivery. You’ll shape testing standards in an Agile environment and help grow our automation capability to improve test coverage and release confidence. This is a hands-on position with a strong emphasis on Playwright-based automation and solid manual testing skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated UI and API tests using Playwright with Page Object Model principles
• Conduct exploratory, functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing across web apps, APIs, and backend services
• Create and maintain test cases, test scenarios, test plans, and test data for manual and automated testing
• Perform API testing using Postman, Playwright, or similar tools to ensure functionality and data integrity
• Integrate automated tests within CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous testing and rapid feedback
• Manage automation code via GitHub and adopt source control best practices in collaborative workflows
• Identify, document, prioritise, and retest defects with close collaboration with development teams
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to sprint planning, refinement, and reviews
• Promote a quality-first mindset and continuously improve testing processes, tools, and standards

Key requirements

• Minimum 5 years of commercial software testing in Agile environments
• Strong hands-on experience with Playwright and TypeScript for automation
• Experience with Page Object Model or similar design patterns
• Solid manual testing across web apps, APIs, backend systems, and end-to-end processes
• Experience testing RESTful APIs with Postman or similar
• SQL knowledge for data validation and investigation
• GitHub or other Git-based version control
• Experience with CI/CD and continuous testing
• Understanding of SDLC and STLC
• ISTQB Foundation or equivalent
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Self-motivated, able to manage priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes
