Overview
In this Finance Director role, you will lead the regional finance function and provide business-wide financial insight to support the MD in maximizing delivered value. You’ll bring operational financial expertise to challenge decisions and govern the BU while accelerating value optimization for shareholders. You will partner with the MD and BUMT to shape strategy, oversee controls, and ensure robust financial processes. The position blends strategic leadership with hands-on financial management to enable growth and prudent risk handling. Responsibilities
- Catalyse optimal business performance by reviewing new business and providing final financial recommendations to the MD
- Lead the BU business planning process and challenge operational assumptions for plans and forecasts
- Provide accurate financial information to support business plans and articulate strategy with the MD
- Promote value optimization from the landbank while maintaining customer-centric ethos
- Co-lead BU strategy development with the MD and provide financial analysis to support it
- Protect assets, ensure regulatory compliance, and uphold corporate governance in the region
- Oversee core finance outputs and controls with the Finance Manager and team
- Identify business risks and propose mitigating actions; horizon-scan for opportunities to shape the business future
- Build and develop a qualified finance team and drive talent attraction and retention
- Partner with the MD on land acquisitions and evaluate deals for capital efficiency and alignment with strategy
- Sign off financial models, consider financing, cash flows, tax and accounting implications, and present final recommendations to the MD
- Assess site costs and risks through CVR reviews with input from the Commercial team; attend P&L meetings to interrogate variances
- Coordinate with Production and Sales Directors to optimise site delivery and ROCE
Key requirements
- Qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA
- Extensive post-qualified experience in finance/performance and accounting & financial control roles
- Experience in financial accounting, month-end close, internal controls, external audits, forecasting and planning
- Experience in M&A activity, business risk management, external audit, and systems implementations
- Proven ability to lead and develop a finance team
