Associate Director Electrical & Power Monitoring: Data Centres

Overview

In this role, you will lead EPMS/PMS design and implementation for data centre projects, ensuring performance, regulatory alignment, and sustainability. You’ll collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and clients to shape intelligent building controls and drive project delivery. You will assess, specify, test, and optimise monitoring systems while mentoring colleagues and advancing smart building technologies. This is a hands-on position with opportunities to influence design decisions, safety culture, and technical innovation across challenging data centre environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and contractor implementation of EPMS/PMS across architectures to meet client needs and sustainability goals
• Engage with stakeholders at all levels, building relationships and providing expert advice
• Manage complex projects end-to-end including feasibility studies, specifications, tender management, cost/bid analysis, and progress reporting
• Conduct system surveys, assessments, and FAT/SAT testing, delivering reports and training to optimise performance
• Drive business development, mentor the EPMS/PMS team, and promote knowledge sharing and innovation in smart building tech
• Promote Safety, Health & Environmental (SH&E) practices and ensure compliance
• Support integration of mechanical, electrical, and control systems using open communication standards and advanced EPMS technologies
• Occasionally travel nationally to project sites and maintain flexible office/remote work arrangements
• Possess data centre design experience or exposure and knowledge of basic electrical services design principles for data centres or industrial facilities
• Maintain client-facing excellence through clear communication and leadership across disciplines

Key requirements

• Degree in electrical engineering (building services bias preferred) or equivalent experience
• Member of IET or CIBSE; CEng accredited or working towards it
• Proven track record in leading EPMS and controls designs across different architectures and project sizes
• Team player with ability to deliver electrical designs alongside other building services and disciplines
• Postgraduate experience in a building services design role with focus on data centres
• Forward-thinking, client-focused with strong liaison skills to project managers and contractors
• Familiarity with relevant regulations and standards; capable of producing designs across RIBA stages and supervising sites
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities with stakeholders at all levels
• Full clean driving licence and passport; willing to travel regionally and internationally
• Ability to obtain security clearance for certain projects
