Senior Conversation UX Designer, Alexa for Shopping

Overview

As a Senior Conversation Experience Designer on the Alexa for Shopping design team, you shape how customers interact with Amazon’s personalised AI shopping assistant. You will blend voice, touch, and GUI ideas to create natural, high-impact experiences across surfaces. Collaborating with UX, research, product, and engineering, you translate briefs into bold, usable conversations that scale. This role offers the chance to influence how customers discover and shop using AI-powered interactions. You will drive strategy, design frameworks, and hands-on implementation from concept to launch.

Responsibilities

• Develop high-level customer experience strategy for near- and long-term horizons
• Design conversational frameworks and flows in collaboration with UX designers for GUI components
• Support training of LLM content with Science and Editorial teams to match design intent
• Present design work to UX, product, engineering, and leadership for review
• Collaborate with design team to refine experiences, frameworks, processes, and best practices
• Work with UX research and data analysis to evaluate and optimize features
• Navigate ambiguity and evolving customer expectations to clarify design decisions

Key requirements

• 8+ years of experience in conversation design or VUI design
• Bachelor’s or higher in relevant fields or equivalent experience
• Fluent in English (written and verbal)
• Strong portfolio available online
• Experience designing for LLM-enabled customer experiences
• Excellent time management to handle competing demands and tight deadlines
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
