Senior Java Developer

Overview

In this role you will design, develop and maintain high-performance Java applications while leveraging AWS to deliver scalable cloud-based solutions. You’ll work with cross-functional teams to ensure robust data handling, batch processing, and reliable performance. You’ll mentor junior developers and uphold code quality. This position sits at the intersection of technology leadership and delivery within Version 1’s AWS and Oracle–partnered ecosystem, contributing to impactful customer outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop robust, scalable Java applications
• Leverage AWS services to build and deploy cloud-based solutions
• Design and optimize database schemas; write complex SQL and improve performance
• Develop and manage batch processing systems for large data volumes
• Ensure code quality via reviews, testing, and best practices
• Collaborate with product managers, QA and other developers to deliver solutions
• Troubleshoot performance bottlenecks and bugs
• Mentor junior developers and foster learning culture

Key requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field
• 7+ years of Java development experience in product or services environment
• 3+ years of AWS experience (EC2, S3, Lambda, Step Functions, Event Bus)
• 5+ years of relational database experience (Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL) with complex joins and performance troubleshooting
• Proficiency in Java, Spring Framework, Hibernate, and RESTful APIs
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent communication and teamwork
• Preferred: batch processing experience; Python (2+ years)
• SC Clearance essential
