Overview
In this role you will own Merlin’s Scope 1 and 2 carbon reporting and environmental compliance across the global estate, turning data into actionable insights. You’ll partner with Sustainability, Finance, Procurement, Energy and Operations to ensure accurate, auditable reporting and strong governance. You will develop dashboards and performance insights to support strategic sustainability goals. Responsibilities
- Lead annual Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas reporting across 100+ locations
- Maintain carbon accounting methodologies aligned with the GHG Protocol and regulations
- Coordinate collection, validation and assurance of environmental data
- Manage packaging compliance and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) reporting
- Produce environmental dashboards, reports and senior stakeholder insights
- Support internal audits, external assurance, and regulatory reporting
- Deliver environmental reporting training and guidance to teams
- Monitor environmental legislation and assess business impacts
- Support wider ESG and sustainability reporting and initiatives
Key requirements
- Experience in environmental compliance, carbon accounting, sustainability reporting or environmental data management in a multi-site organisation
- Strong knowledge of Scope 1 and 2 reporting and the GHG Protocol
- Experience managing large datasets with emphasis on data quality, governance and assurance
- Excellent analytical skills with ability to translate data into business insight
- Stakeholder management across multiple functions
- Experience supporting environmental compliance and regulatory reporting
- Advanced Excel and data analysis/visualisation tool experience
- Strong project management and organisational capability
- Degree in environmental science, sustainability, engineering, data analytics or related discipline, or equivalent experience
