As the EHS Manager forthe UK and Ireland, you lead the development and implementation of safety,health, and environmental strategies across multiple production sites. Yourrole ensures compliance with legal and corporate standards while fostering aculture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
KeyResponsibilities:
RegulatoryCompliance & Certification Management
- Ensure full compliance with UK and IrishEHS legislation (e.g., Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, Safety, Healthand Welfare at Work Act 2005).
- Maintain and improve certifications suchas ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) and ISO 45001 (Occupational Health& Safety Management).
- Liaise with external auditors andregulatory bodies (e.g., HSE, EPA Ireland).
EHS Awareness &Engagement
- Actively participate in regional and localEHS meetings and safety committees.
- Collaborate with site leadership to embedEHS objectives into daily operations.
- Conduct HAZOPs, PUWER assessments, andCOSHH evaluations.
- Lead root cause analysis using tools like5 Whys and Fishbone Diagrams.
- Implement corrective actions and trackeffectiveness.
Training &Competency Development
- Deliver EHS induction and refreshertraining tailored to high-risk environments (e.g., chemical handling,confined space entry, machine safety).
- Promote behavioural safety through toolboxtalks and near-miss reporting campaigns.
- Drive waste reduction, energy efficiency,and water conservation initiatives.
- Oversee compliance with EnvironmentalPermitting Regulations (EPR) and SECR (Streamlined Energy and CarbonReporting).
- Implement spill response protocols andmanage hazardous waste in line with ADR and REACH regulations.
Audit &Performance Monitoring
- Conduct internal audits and lead externalaudit readiness.
- Monitor KPIs such as TRIR, LTIR, andenvironmental impact metrics.
EmergencyPreparedness & Crisis Management
- Develop and test site-specific emergencyresponse plans.
- Coordinate fire drills, chemical spillsimulations, and business continuity exercises.
Master we are looking for ?
Qualifications& Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field suchas Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety.
- NEBOSH National Diploma in OccupationalHealth and Safety (or equivalent)
- IOSH Chartered Membership (CMIOSH) orworking towards it
- Lead Auditor Certification in:
- -> ISO 14001 (EnvironmentalManagement)-> ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety)
- Additional certifications (e.g., IEMA,Fire Safety, First Aid, COSHH) are advantageous.
- 7–10 years of progressive EHS experiencein a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Proven track record in multi-site EHSmanagement
- Experience with regulatory compliance inboth the UK and Ireland
- Familiarity with environmental permitting,wastewater operations, and energy management systems
- Strategic thinking with the ability totranslate global EHS goals into local action plans
- Excellent leadership, coaching, andinfluencing skills
- Strong analytical and reportingcapabilities (e.g., KPI tracking, root cause analysis)
- Proficiency in EHS management systems(e.g., Enablon, EcoOnline)
- Effective communication and stakeholderengagement at all levels
- Ability to lead audits and manage externalcertification processes
- Fluent in spoken and written English.
