Job Description:

We are looking for an Engineering Quality Manager to join us at SNC Mission Systems UK in St Athan. We providetailored mission systems integration and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) solutions for the UK Government and its allies.

As the Engineering Quality Manager, you will operate across the full Engineering lifecycle, from early‑stage IRAD support and concept development through design, development, verification, validation, project delivery and product acceptance.

You will be hands‑on and embedded within Engineering, while retaining an appropriate degree of independence through its reporting line into the Assurance function to identify and manage quality risks, prevent nonconformances, resolve issues effectively and drive continual improvement.

  • Act as the quality lead for Engineering and assigned projects, providing practical support, independent assurance and constructive challenge across the engineering lifecycle.
  • Ensure Engineering, development and project activities are planned and delivered in line with customer, contractual, regulatory, QMS and internal requirements.
  • Support design, development, verification, validation, testing, technical reviews, audits, product acceptance and release activities.
  • Manage engineering and project nonconformances, including containment, investigation, root cause analysis, corrective/preventive action and verification of effectiveness.
  • Support product conformity, Certificates of Conformity, delegated quality sign-off and release evidence, ensuring records are complete, traceable and authorised.
  • Ensure engineering changes, concessions, deviations, departures from requirements and quality risks are properly assessed, controlled, recorded and communicated.

To qualify for the role, it is essential you have:

  • Relevant Engineering, Quality or technical qualification, or equivalent professional experience
  • Significant Quality Engineering/Assurance experience within a complex engineering environment
  • Experience providing Quality support to Engineering and Projects, including quality planning, nonconformance management and product conformity
  • Experience applying QMS, customer and contractual quality requirements
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and root cause investigation capability

Ideally, you also have:

  • Recognised Quality Management System/ auditing qualification
  • Lean, Six Sigma or structured problem-solving qualification
  • Experience within defence, aerospace or another highly regulated engineering sector
  • Experience with AS/EN 9100, AQAP, DEF STAN and/or defence contractual requirements
