HR Manager Required – Wellingborough

Quest Employment are currently recruiting for an experienced HR Manager to join a busy warehousing and logistics operation based in Wellingborough.

This is a hands-on, operational HR position suited to an experienced HR professional who is confident supporting managers and employees within a fast-paced, shift-based environment.

The Role

As HR Manager, you will provide day-to-day HR support across the operation, ensuring employment legislation and company procedures are followed while supporting employee engagement, performance and retention.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide advice and support to managers on employee relations matters, including absence, disciplinaries, grievances, performance and capability.
  • Manage employee relations cases from initial investigation through to hearings and outcomes.
  • Act as the first point of contact for HR queries from employees and managers.
  • Build strong working relationships with warehouse managers, supervisors and shift leaders.
  • Provide visible, hands-on HR support within an operational warehouse environment.
  • Support workforce planning, onboarding and peak-period recruitment.
  • Advise managers on overtime, agency usage and shift changes.
  • Ensure HR policies and procedures are applied consistently.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and support HR audits and compliance reporting.
  • Monitor absence and attendance trends and support return-to-work processes.
  • Provide guidance on long-term absence, occupational health referrals and reasonable adjustments.
  • Support permanent, temporary and agency recruitment campaigns, including interviews, inductions and probation reviews.
  • Liaise with recruitment agencies regarding compliance, cost control and performance.
  • Support employee engagement initiatives, communication forums and site briefings.
  • Contribute to HR projects, policy updates, engagement surveys and system improvements.
  • Use HR data to identify trends and make practical recommendations.
  • Support organisational change and TUPE processes where required.

Skills & Experience

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Proven experience working as an HR Manager, preferably within warehousing, logistics, manufacturing or another operational environment.
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment legislation and employee relations.
  • Experience confidently advising managers and challenging constructively where required.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working within a fast-paced, operational environment.

Desirable:

  • CIPD Level 3 or Level 5 qualification, or currently working towards one.
  • Experience with change management or TUPE processes.

Working Environment

  • Warehouse/office-based role with hybrid working.
  • Flexibility may be required to support operational shift patterns, including occasional early starts or evenings.
