The University of Nottingham is seeking a motivated, experienced and proactive Health & Safety Advisor to drive the continuous improvement of Health & Safety across all areas of the University.
The role will see you:
- Provide competent, practical and pragmatic Health & Safety advice and support
- Undertake inspections, audits and reviews of Business Units and departments to ensure compliance with legislation and UoN policy
- Produce comprehensive reports and action plans to improve the overall safety of the university.
- Build and maintain effective partnerships with key stakeholders around the university, with an aim to create a collaborative and team-based approach to health and safety.
- Advice on safety matters in multidisciplinary and complex working environments, such as laboratories, workshops, working with animals and grounds work.
- Develop, review and update compliance standards and guidance in line with the needs of the Health & Safety department and the University
- Lead and support significant incident investigations, in conjunction with other members of the health and safety department and stakeholders around the university.
- To support the Health and Safety team with developing training and communications, as needed.
What you bring to the role:
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively at all levels.
- Experience of auditing and inspecting
- Excellent IT skills
- Proven track record of implementing Health & Safety legislation and fostering best practices
- NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety (or equivalent) or working towards or willingness to undertake. With a minimal NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) qualification.
- Ability to provide targeted and competent health and safety advice to a range of users
